The US National Demolition Association has stepped up its federal lobbying activity as it seeks to secure essential status for demolition and remediation during the Coronavirus outbreak.

The state’s order also adopts a definition of essential businesses and workers that conforms with guidelines released by the federal Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security on Thursday. That definition includes work on transportation, energy-utility infrastructure, public works, water systems and building maintenance.
Construction industry and union officials are jointly appealing to government at all levels for its work to be designated “essential” and exempt from shutdowns due to the coronavirus pandemic.
As of January 2020, the construction industry employed 172,000 more workers nationally compared to January 2019
