The eligibility requirements for the Certified Demolition Supervisor (CDS) certification are designed to ensure that candidates have the appropriate foundation of experience and knowledge needed to succeed in a supervisory role and to uphold the safety, efficiency, and professionalism that the demolition industry demands. Supervisors play a critical role on the job site—coordinating teams, ensuring compliance with regulations, managing equipment and schedules, and responding to unforeseen challenges. These responsibilities require not only technical skills, but also sound judgment developed through hands-on experience in the field.
By requiring a minimum level of verified work experience and familiarity with demolition operations, the CDS program helps maintain the integrity of the credential. It ensures that certified individuals are prepared to make decisions that affect crew safety, project timelines, and environmental responsibility. In addition, the eligibility standards reinforce the value of the credential by ensuring it reflects real-world expertise, not just theoretical knowledge.
Ultimately, these requirements help protect the public, support the credibility of the demolition industry, and provide certified professionals with the recognition they’ve earned through their experience and commitment.
