NDA is the leading voice of the demolition industry and works to educate and advocate to elected officials on the legislative issues that could impact our industry practices and standards.

The government affairs office is strategically positioned in Washington, DC, to proactively educate and shape policy decisions, and react to them when necessary.  The collective voice of the industry ensures that both contractors and workers can thrive and continue to boost the U.S. economy. As a demolition professional, you benefit from the collective efforts of demolition contractors to advocate for common-sense policies in Washington. Here you will find information about NDA's government affairs activities, including the 2025 National Policy Agenda and updated news about our advocacy efforts.

2025 National Policy Agenda

NDA advocates on behalf of our members and the demolition industry on the following issues:

Workplace Safety & Health

NDA believes that lawmakers and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) should balance regulations that provide for a safe and healthy work environment while protecting demolition businesses. NDA members take their safety programs seriously and OSHA should work with our member companies to ensure enforcement is tailored to industry offenders.

Workforce Development

NDA urges Congress and the Administration to prioritize policies that encourage a robust and skilled workforce. NDA supports policies to address teh shortage of qualified candidates for high-skilled jobs and increase the pool of qualified candidates for technical jobs on demolition sites.

Labor & Human Resources

NDA and member companies firmly believe that employees and employers should have the right to determine issues such as wages and working conditions, through either individual or collective bargaining, within the boundaries of the law.

Tax Policy

NDA supports a simplified tax code that does not place an unncessary burden on job-creating member companies. Higher marginal tax rates, taxes and fees on assets, and other confiscatory proposals would have a significant impact on small and medium-sized employers- many of which make up the demolition industry and our members.

Environmental Stewardship

NDA believes that lawmakers and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) should balance regulations that provide for a safe and healthy work environment while protecting demolition businesses. NDA members take their safety programs seriously and OSHA should work with our member companies to ensure enforcement is tailored to industry offenders.

Healthcare

The availability of quality health care benefits is a priority for NDA and its member companies. NDA supports common-sense proposals that would address the increasing costs of health insurance, particularly for employer-sponsored arrangements and the rising number of uninsured Americans.

Disaster Response

NDA is firmly committed to assisting communities in the wake of devastating man-made and natural disasters and recovering the most effect and efficient manner possible. NDA supports lowering barriers so that recovery can take place quickly and efficiently, and the tremendous unseen cost of using ill-equipped, under-trained, and inexperienced contractors could be reduced.

Procurement Transparency & Fairness

NDA firmly opposes efforts from state and local governments to forgo a fair and transparent procurement process by establishing in-house demolition programs utilizing federal funds. NDA supports the adoption of regulatory and legislative measures which would require all entities that receive federal funding for demolition projects to solicit competitive bids from private contractors.

Trade

NDA urges the Administration to cautiously weigh the costs and benefits of trade remedy actions against other countries. NDA members utilize equipment procured both domestically and abroad, and it is important that a competitive market for these products is not ruptured by government policies. NDA also urges the federal government to oppose trade policies that would disrupt the construction and demolition industries.

Infrastructure

NDA encourages the federal government to enact legislation that provides annual appropriations to programs including the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, Highway Trust Fund, USACE Military Construction and Civil Works Programs, and the EPA Brownfields and Superfund programs, among others.

Electric Vehicles

While NDA is cognizant of the evolving role EVs play in the marketplace, NDA believes the transition to EVs on the national level should be voluntary and primarily driven by market forces.
