Construction Costs Fall for First Time in a Decade

The nature of the coronavirus pandemic has created a uniquely challenging set of circumstances for designers, architects, and contractors. And interestingly, according to the Turner Building Cost Index, a metric for nonresidential construction, construction costs have fallen 1.01% from the first to the second quarter of 2020. While perhaps insignificant out of context, that decline marks the first time since Q2 of 2010 that the Building Cost Index fell from one quarter to the next.
